Progress Over Perfection
Pursuing Curiousity
Curated Studio Stories: Embracing curiousity seems to be an excellent remedy for my fear of botching things up in the studio.
Its been a little bit of a slow journey to develop this small series of animal portraits cast in ceramic and bronze. Thank you for your patience and for joining me on this journey. There is something to be said for the slow and contemplative process of a studio.
I'll be updating my blog etc as these pieces arrive at completion. I'm working through process, media and presentation details as I go so I don't want to rush.
I have been very slowly making my way through processes and media that are new to me. Both Ceramics and Bronze casting have been on my wish list since I was a child. I am so excited to say that I have found ways to make accomplishing these goals very accessible.
I am in the throes of designing and creating unique settings for my tiny ceramic, bronze and silver animal sculptures. I’m considering which metals and forms to use, trying to keep an eye on conserving materials to keep costs reasonable for most of these pieces. It would be very easy to get carried away especially as I see the animal portrait's setting as another opportunity to sculpt and create a world for the story behind each animal portrait.

You can see a visual diary, a portfolio of this series of tiny animal portraits on my website. Works in progress, process and preparing for release into the wild!
I'll send out another update once I have a few of these little sculpture casts nestled in their settings. I'm curious and excited to develop this collection and the series further. Thanks for joining me and cheering me on!
